What We Celebrate Together

Children in costumes at the Carnival Ball

In Mount Prospect, ABCD Academy organizes events and celebrations throughout the year for all five age groups.

Enrolled children participate automatically - no sign-up required. Events strengthen family connections and build social skills. They are part of the program, not extras.

Events Are Part of the Curriculum - Not Just Fun

When your child performs at Mother's Day or dresses up for the Carnival Ball, they are using skills built over weeks of classroom work.

How We Communicate Events to Parents

All event dates and field trip details are sent in advance - enough lead time to plan. Teachers are available to answer questions directly. We respond the same day.

Here is what you receive for each type of event:

Family events: Date, time, how your child participates, and your role as a guest

Field trips: Destination, date, what to bring, and any permission required

How Events Support Development

School events and field trips build skills that Illinois early learning standards recognize as core development.

Children learn to manage nerves, follow through on practiced work, and perform in front of others. Family events strengthen the parent-child-school connection. Field trips build vocabulary, observation skills, and real-world confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are ABCD Academy events open to parents and family members to attend?

Yes. Many of our events – such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Graduation – are family events where parents and relatives are welcome as guests. For each family event, you receive the date, time, and details on how your child participates.

All five age groups participate in events at ABCD Academy, including Bear Cubs (6 weeks–16 months) and Little Monkeys (16–24 months). Participation is designed to be age-appropriate for each group.

We send event dates and field trip details in advance, so you have enough time to plan. For family events, you receive the date, time, and your role as a guest. For field trips – the destination, date, what to bring, and any permission required.

Yes. We plan field trips for age-appropriate groups to places connected to what the children are learning, such as nature centers and farms. Children are supervised at all times, and parents receive full details and any permission forms in advance.

That is completely fine. Events are part of the regular program, and missing one has no consequences for your child. Just let your child’s teacher know in advance.
